Virginia Tech 2010 Transfer Board

I don't think there's a 2010 VT Transfer board, so I thought i'd start it.

Has anyone heard from Virginia Tech yet? I know its unlikely because the application was due only 9 days ago, but I turned mine in March 1st and I'm hoping to hear soon. If you hear from Tech, post as soon as you do!

*crickets chirp

I applied too, but nothing yet. I was under the impression that I wouldn’t hear anything until May 1.

I applied back in Feb. for the first due date, and I still haven’t heard yet. :(

yeah ChelC i turned it in at the end of february and havent heard anything either :(

brishe, Virginia tech does a sort of rolling admission thing, where they send out a few waves of acceptances. they dont promise they’ll send out any before may 1st, but often times they do. I know last year people heard around april 4th or 5th, but that was when the due date was still February 15th, not March 15th like ours was extended to.
I wouldnt be surprised if we didnt hear anything til May 1st, but i’m getting extremely antsy and want to know!!

also, they still haven’t received my college transcripts. anyone think i should send them again?

Do you know they haven’t received them or are they just not on SIS? If they haven’t appeared yet, call, but keep in mind that first year decisions are just now coming out, so transfer files are still being put together.

they just havent appeared yet, but thats a good point, they’re probably really busy with freshman application. ill wait til after april 1st

does anyone know why they pushed back the due date to a full month later? i know virginia had a lot of bad weather…but that doesnt seem like a reason to push it back for a full month

If you don’t mind my asking, may I ask where you all are transferring from and why? For example, graduating from community college, dissatisfied with current college (which one). I know that community colleges in Virginia are specifically designed for this type of transfer, but I am curious as to why people transfer out of other four-year schools.

I left VCU orginally and then enrolled in NVCC. I just didn’t like the atmosphere - too hipster-y and I felt like I wasn’t being challenged enough intellectually.

As far as the deadline, it seems like they’ve pushed it back several times in the past, but I don’t know why.

im at college of charleston in south carolina and i just dont like it. its too far from home, not academically challenging enough. same with brishe, i don’t like the atmosphere. I feel pretty disconnected from the school and thats not want i want in a college experience.
pretty much any reason you can get for wanting to transfer, thats me hahah

I am currently at Longwood University. I wanted to teach, but my interests have shifted in an entire new direction. I want to double major in environmental science and biology. Longwood does not currently have environmental science…and Virginia Tech does  Also, I believe I will acquire a better education at Tech…no offense Longwood.

Have they evaluated anybody’s credits yet?

sadly, no
i think from what i’ve heard, thats a good sign if they evaluate your credits. have yours been evaluated yet?

also, i called the admissions office today to ask about my college transcript and they said Tech would email me if they needed something else for my application

more importantly, she told me that they’ve already sent out some notifications, so we should be hearing from them anytime from today to may 1st. keep your fingers crossed :)

Sweet! Yeah, they’ve evaluated my credits from last semester and working on my credits from high school. Maybe it won’t take as long as we think! :)

wow thats great! yeah, from what i’ve seen on other boards, the evaluation of credit was usually right before an acceptance… i dont want to jinx it for you, but maybe this means you’re in!

I’ve been looking at the application status tracker every day and it doesn’t look like anything has changed. How do you know if they have evaluated your credits?

Tech also has a transfer blog like UVA. It has some pretty valuable information.

[Transfer Bound](<a href=“Transfer Bound”>Transfer Bound)

mine hasnt changed either. If i get this wrong, ChelC, please correct me, but I think they add something to your status page that says they have evaluated your credits.

Thanks for the help! Also according to the Virgina Tech Admissions Office fan page on Facebook, the first wave of notifications should come around April 1st, then the second wave will be around May 1st.
