accepted…dont think im going

congrats kwm! if you’re not going you should tell them. better chance for the rest of us haha are you in-state virginia? care to share your stats? also, when did you hear from the school?/when did you send in your app?

I want to transfer to Tech for a million reasons. Its better academically than the school I’m at now, its closer to home, my big sister goes there and LOVES it, its has increadibly high school spirit which is totally lacking at my current school, and it as a program on womens roles in international development which is a blend of two minors im pursuing, and it just seems perfect. I have a lot of friends at Tech already since I’m in-state virginia so i dont think the transfer would be too difficult. I’m a hokie at heart and i cant waittttt to find out if i got in
keep your fingers crossed!

rejected and it wasn’t even my first choice. so i guess i’m in trouble.

noooooooo brishe im so sorry when did your status change? im so sorry! where else did you apply. whats your first choice?

it never did, not that i can see anyway. i got the letter in the mail today. and i applied to jmu and uva, uva being my first choice. i’m kind of glad because i wasn’t expecting to get into uva, but i also didn’t know whether i would choose jmu or tech so at least the decision’s been made for me? if i get in, that is.

I heard they do acceptances in shifts, so you may hear in 2 weeks or 4. I was waitlisted for freshman year, so they knew how much I wanted to be there. I love Tech’s football, and my older brother will be graduating this year from Tech in Civil Engineering. I came from Roanoke College, then transferred to RU (hate hate hate the commute), and Tech is overall just better Applying to grad school is going to be annoying though, ha. But I’ve always wanted to go to Virginia Tech :)

Yeah, im a freshman at a small liberal arts school, i had a 4.0 with a few upper level classes my first semester, im currently taking several upper level classes this semester and have a 4.0 as well (doesn’t really matter though, they made their decision with only seeing my second semester course selection, not grades obviously). Im involved in a number of extra curricula’s (elected official in student government, poly sci club, tutor, student ambassador). My high school credentials were not stellar and i did not apply coming out of high school. I had a 3.2 with 6 ap’s (all 4s and 5s on the exams) and only a 1850 on my sats, however it was on the best high schools in virginia and the US. I applied relatively early (i think i had everything in by mid feb, dont remember the exact dates). I found out on the 31st of march, however as I said previously I will decline and have informed them of my decision. Im hoping for UVA, i know its a long shot but its my dream school, if not it will be JMU or Elon. Two of my close friends also applied, one is a freshmen at CNU and the other is a sophomore. They had similar credentials all round, both were accepted and will attend. Good luck.

kwm, what HS did you go to in Virginia? I went to Langley, any chance you went there too? or TJ?

congrats again on getting in, my stats are similar to your so hopefully thats a good sign for me!

hahaha. Mclean…

hahahaha ooo rivals. well both schools are equally as good, so im not surprised you got in :)

has anyone signed up for orientation yet?

i just got wait-listed at jmu… and was already accepted to tech… Its my understanding that tech is a much better all-round school then jmu… anyone know what’s up with that?

that is weird, i think Tech is better than JMU academically. maybe they didnt think you were serious about applying. did you do the essay?

yeah. iv also talked to a few of my friends, they got into tech and got flat out denied at jmu… from my understanding apparently they are all ready overpopulated and dont same a lot of space for transfers…

For people who have already gotten in, did they send you an email? or did you just check the application status page?

and how do you tell whether your credits have been evaluated or not?

Did anyone send their SAT scores to Tech?

if you’re a transfer, colleges do not care about what you did before college. whether you did good or not in high school is irrelevant. so to answer your question, you don’t need to.

hate to say it, but thats not true.
especially if you’re transferring for your sophomore year. they have less than a year to look at, and thats just not that much. if you’re a transferring to be a junior or a senior, then they won’t look at high school but if you’re a freshman this year, they look at high school almost equally.

and guardipeesa, yes, i sent in my SAT scores to tech because i’m a freshman and they asked for them
