Thank you! She fell in love with Indiana University - Bloomington. They loved her right back with an acceptance all the way back in October, and in the end that school really felt right to her!
Got off waitlist this morning instate engineering
I don’t know when S22’s portal was updated but thanks to this group, I suggested he check today and he’s in. OOS engineering with ocean engineering interest. 99.9% sure he’ll be accepting. Unfortunate that it’s so late and he’ll be leaving a roommate at the other school in the lurch but he understands he has to do what’s best for him.
I guess it is finally happening. My daughter is in the same boat. Hope she gets to hear soon. It’s been painful for waiting.
I hear you @freephk
Congrats to all the people who are getting pulled off the waitlist! After emotionally grieving being waitlisted at VT, my D22 put her deposit down for University of Delaware which is OOS for us. (The acceptance came 5 minutes after VT’s waitlist notification.) She’s now really excited to be a Blue Hen; she’s already found a roommate and bought her merch. If she gets into VT it will be a tough choice. She’s instate for Virginia, so VT is definitely A LOT cheaper and higher ranked. But there is a lot to love about UD and we are both starting to feel like it’s actually a better fit for her. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if she’s offered a spot and then decide!
Congratulations for your daughter and let it be a great start for her !!! I am just wondering on what basis Virginia tech is waitlisting applicants as they say it’s not ranked .
Best guess over the years has been how closely a waitlisted student’s profile matches a student who declines their admissions offer. Profile as in gender, stats, OOS or IS, etc. Swapping out student #2 for #1.
My daughter received notice today that she made it off of the waitlist; OOS engineering with ocean engineering interest. She needs to respond by May 2nd. She just put her deposit in at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, as we thought getting off of the VT waitlist was a longshot. Now we have some thinking to do.
Stats?
It would be great if you can update stats for those getting off the waitlist. So we can get a picture
Has she visited Virginia Tech? The two schools have very different “vibes”. My S21 had both on his list last year. RPI offered him a pretty substantial merit award; VT did not (they are not known to give much $$) but still came out a few thousand less than RPI. In the end he chose VT since it was a much better fit for him overall and he’s had a really good freshman year experience.
@Hopefaith14 - not sure what stats you want…my son has over a 4.2 GPA and is attending a private college prep high school. I do not believe he submitted his SAT scores. He is involved in other activities, works and plays multiple sports. He is in the CoE with focus on aerospace engineering. Still hoping for good news for your son or daughter.
4.5 W/ 3.9 UW (public high school IB program and took APs too)
1400 SAT (submitted)
Accepted OOS Engineering
no connection to VA Tech
No ECs connected to engineering but highly varied interests including Eagle Scout
@Hopefaith14 I have to believe most waitlist admits will come after May 1. Hoping for the best for your 2022!
Thanks @CABS2021 and @Trumblenp . Yes , keeping faith high !!
My daughter went ahead and put down her deposit for VCUarts as she remains waitlisted for VT (she is super interested in their school of visual arts, SOVA). At least she got into a highly regarded art program at another school but she just really likes the campus and vibe at VT more than VCU.
Good luck to your daughter @momto2girlsinva
Thank you
Does VT notify you any time of the day? Did you get an email notification of a portal update?
