Virginia Tech Acceptance Rates?

Does anyone know if the acceptance rates at VT have changed this year? I don't see any info on their site, but maybe I missed it...

I've been told that VT has been getting more selective every year.

Hi reasonabledad, I think I read the VT website is supposed to be updated with new information for the 2008-2009 school year the week of April 21. So hopefully you will be able to see if there are any changes from this past fall's class. I just heard from a friend who is a very active alum that there were over 20K applicants to Tech this year. If she has her facts straight, that number is up from last year, but with this year's huge number of graduates, every college in the country probably had more applicants.

VT is getting more and more selective. No question about that. Last year's AVERAGE incoming freshman GPA was 3.8 and SAT was 1230.....It will be interesting to see if those numbers increase...I hope not as I have a 13 year old who wants to follow her older brother there! Yikes!

Thank you. I thought there might be data out there since so many other schools, starting with Harvard and Yale, have published selectivity information already.

Like you, I have child number 2 headed to college in a couple of years and VT is good option, if she can get in.

Still nothing on the VT Web Site as far as I can tell.

Hi reasonabledad, I couldn't access the search feature using member's names the other day, so I posted the new 2008 VT incoming freshman statistics in the College Search and Selection forum with your name in the title ....hope it helps!

Thank you! That's more fame than I deserve.
