Does being a male in engineering hurt my chances?

Being a male affects you a little, but the affect is small. Your grades should be good enough for Tech University school (what you would go into if you didn’t get into engineering but was accepted to the university). Have you taken Physics? How did you do in it? And how are you doing in your math classes? One or two B’s won’t hurt but Tech really wants mostly A’s.

I have not taken Physics, but I am planning on taking it instead of AP Statistics next semester. I have gotten mostly A’s in math classes with a B here and there. Unfortunately, I have struggled in Calculus AB which is I know is an integral part of engineering.

But the big thing is that you’re taking AP calc. Even if you don’t get an A in that, Tech knows that’s a hard class and will look favorably on it. Definitely take physics because I know guys that did pretty well in math but didn’t take physics and were rejected to the engineering school. I don’t know if not taking physics killed them, but taking the class can’t hurt your chances. Being OOS you’re not a shoo in, but I think you stand a pretty good chance

Thats good to hear. Is it possible to enter as a University Studies major if I don’t make it into the engineering school and then transfer into engineering if I do well?

Yeah! Totally! I toured there this summer and they said what happens is when you apply you would put your number one major as Engineering and then you would put your second major as something in the school of arts and sciences. If you get rejected to the engineering school you are automatically reconsidered for University Studies aka the school of arts and sciences. You may wanna check the website to be sure what I said is true, but I’m pretty sure you are automatically considered for University Studies if you’re rejected to the engineering school or the architecture school.
