Virginia Tech College of Pamplin

Hey everyone! I am looking for anyone that could give me there view on my chances of being granted admission at Virginia Tech’s Business College of Pamplin. I have a 3.58 GPA and a 1680 SAT with a combined scored of 1090. My composite score for the ACT is 25. I am a heavily involved club soccer player and I’m going into my fourth year of high school soccer and will be granted the captaincy for this season. My main courses this year are AP Statistics, AP Psychology, Physics, regular History and English. Since I am applying for the business school, I added a résumé which was revised by my English teacher. I know that it’s going to he a stretch, but I am hopeful I can be admitted. Thanks for taking the time to read this and for potentially helping me out!

Last year, I had close stats (3.64 gpa, 1760 sat), and I was waitlisted from Pamplin.

Thanks for the reply! What did you find out in the next round of decisions?
And I actually have brought up my cumulative gpa after my first semester grades were calculated so it is actually at a 3.64 like yours was.

@lg1245

They didn’t take anyone off the waitlist after regular decisions were released, my class was pretty competitive

Hmm… If you want honesty, I think depending on where you are from, it might be a little bit of a reach. It is possible but it is pretty unlikely unless you had killer essays that explained any lower grades you might have had.

@lg1245 dang ok. I’m guessing that would be the case this time around as well since they received the most applications in their history.

How hard is it to get into Pamplin?

@lilpup2016 thanks for being honest, that’s all I’m asking for. And I actually have a 3.64 now instead of a 3.58. I thought I did a decent job presenting my emotions through my essays. And i don’t know how much being part of a minority race would affect my chances but I’m hoping that will work in my favor.

@hokiehopeful12 I read on their website that business is one of the more popular majors, after engineering of course, so I would imagine it’s competitive

@Sonic9 thanks. Do you happen to know the link of where you read that?

@hokiehopeful12 its near the top for the most applied for areas of study is what I meant

@Sonic9 Ok but if I had a more specific major in the business field, would that make any difference? I want to study finance and that isn’t on their list.

@hokiehopeful12 oh yeah I’m not so sure about the specific areas because I just recalled coming across that page with the most applied majors. I’m sorry I couldn’t help you with that piece of it

@Sonic9 it’s ok thanks for your help though.
