I am a female home schooled student who is graduating a year early. I really want to go to Virginia Tech for engineering. What are my chances?
GPA: 4.0
SAT: 670 (MATH), 790 ( CRITICAL READING), 620 (WRITING)
ACT: 29 (MATH), 28 (ENGLISH), 35 (READING)
College classes : physics 201, physics 202, english 101 (A’s in all)
Extra curricular activities: Ballet
Also, I’m from WV if that helps.
Okay so graduating a year early is really unique, so that’s a good thing about your resume. I don’t know if your GPA is weighted or not, but either way that’s within the range VT looks for. Being out of state is a really good part of your application, mostly cause you will pay more in the end so they are more likely to take you. Your SAT scores are great and so are your ACT scores, but the Math is a little lacking… I think overall its a good application, there aren’t many things you do outside of learning, so I’m not exactly sure if that’s the strongest it could be, but other than that, you are looking very good for getting accepted. Good Luck! And if you could chance me that would be awesome! “Virginia Tech Engineering” as well.
So being a homeschooler they won’t really take your GPA into account. Your SATs are pretty good (maths okay), but especially your CR is very good. Hopefully you filled out 3 essays, had a good letter of rec, and listed more extra curricular than just ballet. But you probably got in especially since you are from out of state. What ended up happening?
