Virginia Tech Engineering Program after Deferral

I don't really understand why I got deferred from VA Tech Engineering program, but what are my chances of getting regular decision?

I volunteer at a Hospital once a week, am an active Girl Scout, play piano and have a job (now, not when applied)
I am in National, Math and Science Honor Society and am an officer in Science
I have previously held two other jobs and gotten promotions within them, I earned my bronze and silver award for Girl Scouts, rowed freshman and sophomore year and was a varsity athlete, volunteer teach religious education at my church, directed and carried out Vacation Bible School at my church, and was on Dance Team freshman year.

Does any one have any suggestions on how to get accepted after the deferral? Can I do anything now? It was a hard hit.

Are you a Virginia state resident? About 74% of the kids at Tech are from Virginia. My son is there and absolutely loves it! I hope you get in.

I take it that you don’t live in Virginia. If you do, then they definitely messed up when reading your app. I’ve never seen someone with stats like yours (from VA) deferred–even for the engineering program.

I live in VA and was just talking to a junior engineering major home for break. He was initially deferred and says plenty of his classmates were deferred. You probably need to express an interest in continuing your application. Accept the deferral and keep your grades up. But make an alternate plan. Good luck!
