Virginia Tech Second Choice

I applied in late December to Virginia Tech as a general engineering major, however last week I was offered admission into my second choice major of Finance.

Virginia Tech is my top choice school, and I was puzzled to this decision as I got into Penn State and Texas A&M engineering. In my acceptance package there was a sheet that explained what getting my second choice major meant, basically discouraging me to go there solely to try to transfer into the college of engineering. Is there any way to get into the college of engineering at this point? Would an appeal do anything if I do not have any new information to show them? Would trying to transfer next year work?

My daughter is a junior at Virginia Tech. She went in undecided by choice. When we went to the meeting for undecided majors at orientation, they talked about getting into specific programs. They said engineering is not that difficult to get into, as long as you do well in the required intro classes. The only major I remember them saying was very challenging to get into was architecture. My daughter is now a finance major. Good luck with your decision. My daughter loves VT!!
