Some idiot in my law class used this shooting as a case against immigration because the shooter was a "Chinese communist".

What school do you go to? People like him/her are ignorant retards.

I don't even want to know what type of hellstorm of racism would of been thrown on these boards if the shooter was black. Thank God. Asian people are in very rough couple of years cuz the racism is gonna be ridiculous.

I live in a rural area. Can't wait to get out.

My conclusion to this horrific tragedy is that this Asian kid got his first B. He thought either his mother would kill him or he could go out this way. stranger things have happened and i would not be surprised if this was the real reason. If you know only A's and something else comes along, especially in an Asian household, a shooting spree can occur.

Good job, Ebuckets1. This thread is now officially ruined

dons flame-retardant armor

Most of people who knew him say it had to do with him being a loner or weirdo. I don't think it had much to do with him being from an Asian household, seeing that he was an English major instead of being in a stereotypical Asian major like engineering or math where prestige is all that matters.

_Nov. 1, 1991: Gang Lu, 28, a graduate student in physics from China, reportedly upset because he was passed over for an academic honor, opens fire in two buildings on the University of Iowa campus. Five University of Iowa employees killed, including four members of the physics department, two other people are wounded. The student fatally shoots himself.

I see a trend...........

In another thread, I addressed a Korean student who was concerned about there being negative feelings towards Asians because of this horrible tragedy. I wrote there that there are always idiots who come out of the woodwork. I see they're already emerging. That's too bad.

it must be starcraft - the violent national sport of korea

I'm Asian and I haven't had any problems from my peers...so far.

do u ever heard of such fierce things happened in Korea, China, Europ,ect..?
why did such things always happened in America?
have u ever thought about that IF the man cannot buy a gun, could he commit this ? maybe more than 20 people wouldn't die under his gun...

Some idiot in my law class used this shooting as a case against immigration because the shooter was a "Chinese communist".

Tell him he is wrong:
1. The shooter was not a communist
2. The gunman was not Chinese. He was Korean.
And he is taking a law class? Tell me about it. I have a strong feeling that I can be a lawyer too. lol

every post seems to have the word "Asian" in it. That bothers me.

First if all, I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the family and any others affected by this tragedy. Just know that those who died will continue to remain in the minds and hearts of everyone.

And, to anyone who says differently-- this even had nothing to do with the shooter being "Asian", but rather he felt extremely alienated from others. Could this have been enhanced by the fact that he only moved to the States a short time ago? Possibly, but I highly doubt that he was not a loner beforehand.

Leave race out of it. If you read the articles on yahoo it said that he was a creative writing major who wrote about macabre subjects often devising unheard of methods of death (ie chainsaws). He was referred to a psychiatrist, though I remember the article saying that they could not comment on that. All in all he was just severely depressed and anti-social. We should be worrying about how to help such people as opposed to arguing about what race he was.

Again, don't think of race, think of those suffering and see if you can do something to help.

that is very good robotab!

This student can soon graduate and practice law. If a couple more like this, I am not surprise why the society is so mess up!

Also, if you use youtube to watch some of the clips, some 'annanymous' in there actually say something like "Asian are bad, kick them out of the country" and crap like that. I'm amazed, some haven't evolved into human, yet!

real time games are not violent. cs and halo are. i don't know about asia, but asians HERE play alot of cs.

but, i prefer less violent games like magic the gathering and chess. but my cruel lust for dominating and vanquishing in these games is still there like everybody else.

Damn the media is really having a field day with the fact that the shooter was korean/asian instead of white for once....

My deepest condolences to all who are affected by this horrendous tragedy.

The eerie yet telling coincidence is that many of the college campus shootings in recent history, from the Iowa shooting to Virginia Tech shooting today have been committed Asians (Chinese, Indian, Taiwanese...).

i don't know... a lot of college shootings were ppl that were white or black or brown or whatever color. and race didn't play a part in the killing, I believe one of the victim was asian ( I assume by his last name which is Lee). M/b he was just stressed out, his older sister graduated from Princeton. But still.. he was a senior and he would have graduated in 2 months...

just some thoughts going on in my head...
