There were more than 1 asian that were killed, look at the list. it's not like he doesn't shoot asian people. This guy is sick, he shot anyone he could. race isn't a factor here.

I'm glad at least the major news carriers are leaving race out of this and focusing on aspects of his personality. For those who like to joke about race, wait until the first time you set foot outside the United States for a business trip and the people in the other country laugh at you for being uncultured. Don't complain about discrimination then, it goes both ways.

could we stop talking about race for a change? i mean, there are criminals in every race proportional to their respective populations. in america there are obviously very few asians compared to other races, so u hardly see any asian criminals. most criminals are white because vast majority of population is white. this so freakin obvious...

so, with this post, the topic of race should be closed..

Well if you want to talk about video games, let me say this.

Watching football, wrestling, underarmour commercials, and 24 gets me far for pumped up to go out on the streets and beat a bunch of people up, than playing any video game, and I have all of the controversial ones.

I'm sure that if you play with the stats enough, you'll find that video games will have something to do with anger, but its not the sole reason why people are like this.

"1. The shooter was not a communist
2. The gunman was not Chinese. He was Korean.
And he is taking a law class? Tell me about it. I have a strong feeling that I can be a lawyer too. lol"

Well at the time I didn't know anything about the identity of the shooter, so I couldn't say whether or not he was Chinese. The girl just saw a picture of him and went into a racist tirade. I put what she said in quotation marks to emphasize the irony that the shooter was actually from a country that has one of the largest free-market economies in the world.

Anyway, it's a high school law class. An elective anyone can take. I'm graduating in a month and I cannot wait to be away from these people.

I bet the shooter's motives were that he wanted to plot revenge cuz he didn't get accepted to any ivies and only went to VA tech

^I'm hoping that was joking because if not..... well that leaves little to be said about your intelligence.

Yes honestly, can we leave the juvenile comments out of this already? It's this anyway to dignify those who have suffered?

''I bet the shooter's motives were that he wanted to plot revenge cuz he didn't get accepted to any ivies and only went to VA tech''

yeah im pretty sure that was it

you want joke? how about add a little more?
Vtech is famous for engineering schools and football. Since he never went to any football game, that leaves the only purpose in life is attending the vtech engineering school. Maybe he's too stupid to get in, that makes him a business major. Maybe then he can't handle it either, he went to the english department! Then he found out that he can't graduate with a good job waiting for him! he decided to kill the people from the engineering school out of jealousy!

come on people! the motives aren't clear! this guy is mess up, he could do anything for no reason!

i saw the names of some of the victims and don't think any asians were shot?

There were a few asians that were shot.

not just video games..i think the cinema can influence children these days. just look at the movies that are out right now..they're all horror movies about some psycho serial killer.

I count at least 5 Asians including one student who was born in Korea and another student who was born in Vietnam: http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2007/virginiatech.shootings/victims/index.html

There's no indication that he was discriminatory as he aimed his gun. Whomever was within sight became a target.

Violence can't really be attricuted to videogames because they are so fast and people arent any more violent than we were without them. If a gunman did not play videogames, it would be suspicious as to what he did with all of his free time.

Halo 3 is coming out this year. But I don't think it'll be good since Halo 2 sucked. Still looking forward to 'tripple wielding.'

Anyways, what about music? I've heard some pretty violent lyrics....oh and how about message forums or the news. Geez anything could be cited as influence.

A combination of past history w/ being the victim of bullying in conjunction with an increasing mental instability, pent-up anger and narcissism leads to an explosive mix (in addition to easy access to firearms).

Cho's roommates have stated that he listened to a lot of Led Zeppelin, Guns & Roses, Nirvana and other angst driven music and it was no surprise that Cho referred to the Columbine shooters in his manifesto as "martyrs."

My conclusion to this horrific tragedy is that this Asian kid got his first B. He thought either his mother would kill him or he could go out this way. stranger things have happened and i would not be surprised if this was the real reason. If you know only A's and something else comes along, especially in an Asian household, a shooting spree can occur.

ebuckets - Care to explain how there haven't been such shooting sprees in Asia - as opposed to about a dozen here in the US?

Moron.

Remember those korean transcripts sent to US universities? They had all "A"s...

not that its funny

It's clear you know nothing about Led Zeppelin music, which is considered by critic and fan alike some of the best and most influential music this world has heard. Zeppelin is not angst driven. Angst driven is what crappy bands call their music because it has no artistic merit.

Please talk about something you know about next time.

i hate those pyshcologists that try to sound smart on the news. i took intro to psych and i thought it was too easy (sometimes really lame because they repeat common sense) and also full of crap. freud is better. why don't those behaviorists just spare us of their bumbling of nonsense..
