How hard is it to get football and basketball tickets at VT? I heard that it's a lottery system. I'm just interested to know how many people that want to go to the games can't becuase of an unavailability of tickets. Thanks

That was an exciting almost-comeback yesterday for VT. I was hoping they'd win, since some people say Auburn deserved to be in the national championship over my school or Oklahoma.

From what I know, college football tickets aren't that much of a problem as long as you go to the school but I don't know from personal experience.

You can always get them on eBay or from someone else on campus if you really want to go, for a lot more $$$ though.

And Auburn is a great team, I was rooting for them all the way, but they had a much easier schedule than either USC or OU so they didn't deserve to go to the Orange Bowl, this is why the BCS needs a playoff system.....

I doubt the football tickets are that hard to come by, seeing as the stadium seats like 5,000,000 people. The students get the nice bleachers so they can crame more of them in. =P

As far as bball... I'd venture that they probably aren't that hard, seeing as I do not think the Tech bball team is really capable of competing at the ACC level, so they could get some thrashings. The flip side is they are now in possibly the biggest ball conference in college sports, and when the national powers like Duke, UNC, and Maryland come to town, people want to see them. And then the rivalry with UVA, and Georgia Tech and Wake Forest both coming to the basketball scene... on 2nd thought, maybe it is kinda hard.

They should let the students camp out for them like they do at Duke etc.

I wish they let students do that, and I guess they used to (prob. for football) but our tourguide said that President of the U. stopped that practice cause it was unsafe or some nonesense like that.

they usally give first tikets to students and from then on they are up for grabs, depends on the school, Duke bball tickets are hard to come by but duke football tickets are given away....

Yes it is a lottery system. You have to sign up online a few weeks before hand. If you don't get a student ticket in the lottery you are pretty much screwed. They are extremely hard to come by, but it is not impossible to get a ticket. The ticket situation has been a subject of a lot of debate for the past couple of years since there just aren't enough seats available to students. Regular tickets cost in the $60 range by the way.

Basketball tickets aren't as hard to get, I don't think, but it is still the same lottery system.

GO HOKIES!

thanks...do you know if the basketball ticket availability will be effected due to tech joining the ACC this year?

Tech is definitely getting more attention being in the ACC, so id figure there is more interest in basketball now than in previous years

haha, i wish someone knew for sure just how "competitve" the lottery acutally is

Correction: They have to pay people to take tickets to Duke football games. At Kent State football games, they were seriously giving away full ride scholarships to get people to come to the games.

lol, but i think duke beat clemson this year in football
