Virginia Tech Transfer Fall 2014

@bilaldgenius oh yeah I’ve thought of that before too. There’s no way of knowing if that’s definite I guess we’ll have to wait and see if someone else gets accepted before that time. I personally still check the guest page that often too so… I feel your pain. :-/

I got a hokie bird next to “you may have financial aid” but today when i checked the bird was gone and instead there is now a red flag… does anyone know what a red flag means…? :(

@Tech123‌ The exact thing happened to me! I second the question!

I’m in the same boat. I hope it only pertains to the financial aid, and not the application itself.

For everyone wondering about the financial aid bird, it does not pertain to your admission decision! I’m not entirely sure about this, but the red flag may indicate an issue in your eligibility for financial aid. That is one of the two birds that appears on your online status page. The “transfer credit evaluation” bird is the one that does reflect your decision.

http://www.admiss.vt.edu/form-pdf/transfer.pdf

If you take a look at the link above and read the “Transfer Credit Evaluation” section, Tech basically implies that only after you’re accepted you will be provided a link to a transfer credit evaluation. That being said, the bird I mentioned earlier will pretty much indicate that you’re accepted. I would find it very unlikely for someone to get accepted without a bird.

However, that is not to say that those of you without a bird will not be accepted. I know in recent years that Virginia Tech has administered multiple small waves when sending out acceptances. I see that many of you have called and been informed that there will be a wave in late April. With that in mind, I believe this will be a giant wave considering they will not being doing any others before that time - so I don’t see why any of you would not be accepted (especially with the solid stats you all have).

under my financial aid info i see that i have received a $1000 scholarship do you think this is a good sign that i got in?

Did everyone here with the required GPA of 3.6 get an invitation to apply for the honors program? I’m wondering if that’s standard or if it’s a good sign.

I didn’t, or at least I wasn’t aware if I did, and I currently hold a 3.74 GPA. A bit off topic, but one thing that never occurred to me to ask before was if one has to declare that they want to be considered for guaranteed admission. Anyone else, if you know what I am talking about, did you follow that agreement closely?

Almris, I thought you had to sign a form with your CC for guaranteed admission. I could be wrong though. I’m getting my associates under General studies which apparently doesn’t qualify for guaranteed admission. My guess is even without the form, if you have the GPA and all the classes that fit the guaranteed admission agreement, then you’re gold.

For the honors program, there’s a link right above the financial information link. It only showed up about a week ago on my page, no hokie bird though.

Did you try the link? Whenever I did, it said the deadline was Feb 15. or there about. If that’s what you meant, then yeah I’ve had that link for a while. I thought it would be something like an email or a letter with the invitation on it. Again off topic, did anyone else get an estimated cost of attendance utilizing the out of state tuition rate, when you were expecting the in state rate?

@Tech123 Do you still have the red flag?

@rohitx yeah :confused:

@Tech123‌ I think the scholarship is definitely something not related to your financial aid eligibility. Call them and ask about the flag - better safe than sorry!

Has anyone else gotten an email from the financial aid office at tech? Or from someone asking them for midterm grades?

i got an email asking for my mid semester grades second week of march

Yes, I got an email asking for mid semester grades. Wasn’t that required for all transfer students?

I never received such an email. However, I think I am still within the conditions of the guaranteed admission agreement VT CoE has with NVCC. Maybe that’s why?

@Almrls that makes sense. I’m not sure what the guaranteed admission agreement requires of it’s participating students, but I can imagine it differs from that of the process of a regular transfer.

Hey everyone! I’m transferring next year definitely and really need to find a roommate!! I’m a girl and will be a sophomore next year in Finance. If someone else needs a roommate let me know. Also, is anyone thinking about starting up a Facebook page for Fall 2014 transfers?

Hey@hokieee222! Of course I’m still waiting to hear back from tech but I’m crazy hopeful! I’m a math major and I’ll
be a sophomore next semester as well!
Do you know how housing works for transfer students? I’ve heard on campus housing is not guaranteed for us.
