Virginia Tech Transfer Fall 2014

@NeedToBeAHokie‌ In order to apply for on campus housing for transfer students, you have to sign up on the wait list. It is on the tech website under transfer housing.

To those of you who are accepted and waiting to hear from them,

Pamplin college of business is starting Transfer Peer Mentoring program for school year 2014-2015. Mentoring program is basically about helping new transfers with everything from course request to weekend fun. I am one of the members of mentoring program. It would be great if you guys would check out the PUMP Mentoring on website.

@hokie757 thanks so much! This helps a lot!
@blacksburg is this offered to all transfer students? Thanks!

@NeedToBeHokie I believe they don’t have Mentoring program in other departments except for Business school
Pamplin is doing it for first time this year. It is open to all Business transfers. You guys can send me a text if you wanna learn about it.

@blacksburg oh, I see. Thanks!

Has anyone heard back or gotten a hokie bird recently?

@hokiehopeful9 I think some people called and found out that they are not going to notify any more people until late April, in some kind of mass decision release. Check page 16 of this thread.

How long does it take for VT to post the financial aid stuff from FAFSA? I did mine late, but it still shows nothing about financial aid.

@Turkish93 if you missed the March 1 priority deadline, I imagine it will take a while. When did you submit it?

A question of my own: As a transfer hopeful, one had to send in two official transcripts and one high school transcript, yes? Well, on my application status page, only the college transcript appears as received. The high school one is not even mentioned. Can anyone relate?

@Almrls‌
Same situation with me. They got my college transcript 2/7 which was a week after it was sent. It’s been more than a month since I sent my hs transcript and still hasn’t updated. I heard that a hs transcript isn’t usually need to make a decision but idk what’s taking so long.

Also if the last wave of acceptances is 2 weeks from now, does that mean no more birds? No one said they got a bird in the recent weeks so I’m guessing no birds until that last week of April.

@Almrls‌ @coleworld123 I had the same issue. I also asked about this when I called the admissions office. I mentioned that a date did not show up under when my high school transcript was received. The said that they had received it and I should not be worried. If you’re still on the edge about it, I suggest calling just to make sure. It definitely settled my nerves about an incomplete application.

@almrls @coleworld123 yeah i was actually one of those people that emailed the admissions office. I’m just wondering if anyone received a hokie bird recently just in case you know?
For your question though, the same thing happened to me. I don’t think anyone has a slot for their high school transcript on their guest account. If you’re that worried I’d say email them because I emailed the admissions office asking if they needed anything else and they told me I was good to go.

@hokiehopeful9 Just curious, did they ask you to submit midterm grades or something of the like?

As far as I know, high school transcripts are not factored in your decision. When I was accepted last month, Virginia Tech did not list a date for when they received my high school transcript.

Also, on the transfer application checklist, it says: “In most cases your application can be reviewed before receipt of your high school transcript, however, a final high school transcript is still required prior to enrollment.”

For anyone wondering about mid-term grades, if VT is on the fence about your decision - they will send you a letter asking for those mid-term grades. If you are not contacted by Tech about this matter, then I do not believe you are required to submit them as I did not have to.

@rohitx Cool, thanks.

@almrls yeah they did ask me for my mid-semester grades, I sent those in before Spring Break (i go to NVCC) so it was around march 10th.

I am an NVCC student as well and I also sent them in early march.

@Almrls As far as I know, no HS transcript is required to make a decision if you are a transfer student with 30 or more credits. So don’t worry about that.

You sent your college transcripts and if you sent in your mid semester grade (if it was requested from you via email) then it is just a waiting game for another week or two.

I thought transfer students were rolling admission, but with this last wave they are just going to announce it all at once.

Just trying to figure this out, those who were asked to submit midterm grades, what are your current GPAs? (not including this semester)
