Hi,
I am a first year at the University of Virginia and interested in attending vet school at Virginia Tech. I am just wondering what a realistic GPA for applying beginning of fourth year is for VTech. I’ve heard a lot of “competitive” GPA’s but i’m more interested in what is really accepted and any information on how difficult it is for UVA applicants. I’m just really worried just how competitive i’m going to have to be and what is expected of me. I’m going to also try and connect to Tech alumni for references along with focusing on my grades. I’ve been trying to get a hold of the gpa’s and overall credentials of last years accepted students but without any success. Any help or any information about this subject at all would help. I’ve been to the Virginia Tech website, but i was wondering if anyone had exact statistics or experience/anything else. Thanks.

Right from the web site:

To be considered for admission, applicants must have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.8 on a 4-point scale or 3.3 for the last 45 semester hours providing courses taken during this period are junior or senior level. A competitive GPA is 3.5. Also applicants must complete a minimum of 60 semester/90 quarter hours at an accredited college or university by the end of the spring term of the year in which matriculation occurs. All required course work must be completed by the end of the spring term of the year in which matriculation occurs. There is no option to complete prerequisites during summer term of the year of matriculation. If an applicant fails to register or withdraws from a prerequisite course projected for spring term completion, their application will be removed from consideration and any offer of interview or admission will be null and void. Students must earn a "C-" or better in all required courses.

Yeah, I have visited the web site, but I've been told that Tech just says that's what's competitive, and yet they dont accept many people unless they have a much higher gpa. I was just wondering if anyone knows about that
