Hey guys, this fall I will most likely be going to either CU Boulder or Virginia Tech to major in some kind of engineering (most likely aerospace or civil). However, I am currently a Colorado resident and my parents are planning on moving back to Virginia over the summer so both schools will cost the same IF I qualify for in-state tuition for VT. If not, VT will cost approximately $50,000 more than CU Boulder. I am a pretty academically disciplined student (but to be honest, I really like to party) so obviously job prospects after are important, I like to run, hike, ski, eat (good dining hall food is a MUST), go to concerts, and just a campus with good vibes in general. So if the costs do end up coming out the same, which school would you guys recommend and why? Thanks for any feedback!
If your parents move after you start at CU Boulder, will you be able to keep your in-state status?
@happymomof1 I emailed admissions, and they said that I will keep my in-state status even if my parents move, and I was awarded the $10,000 President James H. Baker Award as well, so that should lower the cost of attendance even more.
If you graduate from a high school in Colorado you’re considered in state. CU is a ranked #11 in Aero engineering and your’e in state plus have you ever ski’d the east coast :-q , just say nooooooooooooooooooooo. This is a no brainer.
VT for Civil
CU Boulder for Aerospace
