I am torn between my admission for PhD in computer science/engineering to:

Electrical and Computer Engineering Dept, Virginia tech, Blacksburg, Virginia
versus
2 Computer Science Dept, Worchester Polytechnic (WPI), Worchester, Massachusetts
(my significant other works in boston suburbs)

I have been thinking on this for a week, and I finally came to this forum coz I am torn inside.
Help me measure out the pro and cons.
Help me choose the right place. Whats your opinion hive-brain?

Are the costs the same?

Honestly, if there were a truly significant SO in the picture, I don’t think this post would even have been made unless you have some problems emotionally. If I had found a post like this when DH and I were “dating”, he would not have become my DH. I would have been so miffed. I’m a bit miffed reading this on your SO’s behalf.

Really? You have a relationship in Boston and can go to WPI or VTech. Hmm. How significant is this significant other? You’ll get it done at either school - WPI is small by comparison to VT. Why wouldn’t you go to Worcester (no h)?

I got 100% funding (TA +tuition waiver) in both to begin my first year and cost is not a problem.
My SO is also torn in this. Both of us r fluctuating between our cortex saying “choose by reputation for sake of career, and we can meet once a while” versus our emotional brain saying “select one thats closer”.
