Virginia Tech Waitlist 2010

ballaholic- The May 1 deadline was just this weekend. Because so many students are applying to more schools that ever (20+!), and being accepted to multiple schools, there will be alot of shifting around over the next week as last minute decisions were made and the dust settles. It will take a bit for admissions to filter out who has accepted offers, how many spaces they have available, and what parts of the university those are available in (ie VT has engineering slots vs. gen’l university slots). Some universities rank their waitlists and the process may go faster. Others do not rank theirs. I do not know the policy at VT or JMU. It’s impossible to look at stats and say why one student is selected over another. In VA every year we see students turned down from VT and we shake our heads. I’m sure you were more than qualified. Unless you are in the admissions office it’s impossible to know why a decision was made.

If you have not contacted the admissions office yet, it does not hurt to respectfully call your TOP choice and let them know you are very interested, and if selected will accept their offer. Three, four, and five calls can get excessive, however much you want to sit in their office and say ‘PICK ME!!!’ . Keep yourself on their radar and hold tight.

Good luck!
