Virginia Tech: What Are My Chances?

Virginia Tech is my top school but, it seems like a big reach. How slim are my chances of getting in? Here is my info.

GPA: 3.67 (Weighted) on a 4.0 scale
SAT: Math: 630 / Reading: 510 / Writing: 600

AP Statistics
AP Spanish
Calculus
Graphic Design (1 semester)
English
Honors Mobile Computer Science
Law (1 semester)

Class rank: Top 30%

Extracurricular Activities/ community service:
-8 day service trip to Guatemala
-Program at YMCA where I teach mentally disabled children how to swim every week for 2.5 hours for 8 weeks a year
-Leo Club: Community Service club at my school that I have participated in all four years
-Men’s cross country: Participated all four years. Received varsity letter.

Employment:
I have been working for my father’s painting company part time during the school year and full time during the summer since 8th grade.

it depends into what field your applying to, but i think your defiantly qualified, unless your applying into engineering since that is where they get their reputation, i mean how competitive it is… but yeah defiantly. .

It’s pretty difficult to set your mind into the thinking process of the VT Admission Officers. Sometimes it’s quite obvious that one person with exceptional statistics will be accepted, where other times it’s quite shocking that they were denied. Nevertheless, the fact that you have gained experience in something that you’ve done with your father’s company means kudos much more than some average SAT score. With that in mind, I would suggest that as long as you maintain your grades and work ethic, then you have a high chance to be accepted. Now, engineering-wise, I’m not sure how well it will go, but that “Honors Mobile Computer Science” will spark up some interest definitely.
