<p>Just thought I'd ask my chances of getting into Virginia Tech in state. I'm a senior in Fairfax County Public Schools. I'm Asian.</p>

<p>My intended major is Mining Engineering. My second choice is either Economics Science or another engineering. I'm not too sure about my second choice. </p>

<p>About Me:
• I've taken private lessons for viola since 4th grade. I've consistently been top in my school and out of school orchestras like the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. I plan to play in the VT orchestra/symphony.
• FIRST Robotics Club
• Model UN (Many, MANY conferences under my belt. But no "leadership" position to show for it.)
• Model Judiciary
• Competitive paintball. I'll definitely try for VT's paintball team if I can.
• Mixed Martial Arts. (Experience with sparring)
• Captain of CyberPatriot Cyber Defense Competition team. My team might advance to semi-finals; I find out tomorrow.
• Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars. I didn't make it to the NASA Langley summer camp.
• I'm a prospective NROTC cadet. I've checked off ROTC and Regimental Band on my app.
• Math Honor Society, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society.
• I volunteered over 150 hours last summer. I did occasional volunteer work before that and I still do.</p>

<p>Let's be honest here, my GPA sucks. I was rejected by my reach school (Colorado School of Mines) because although my GPA matched their minimum, I had too many C's. I'm also applying to the Virginia Military Institute for that reason. Slam me. Be Harsh. I want to know my chances. Tell me if there's any other info I should provide.</p>

<p>You’re a match for that school but, if your recs say your school is rigorous, and explain it carefully, you have a better chance.</p>
