I honestly can’t remember what I did to get that. It was a while ago. But yes, you give the NOC to your parents. Take a copy with you but leave the original at home.

For those of us who want to know about “NO OBJECTION LETTER”:

should I be dressed formal for my visa interview?

nepalimussa… nope a shirt with sleeves (full or half) should do the job… a simple jeans would do … Actually, I went into the interview wearing formal attire and came to see that I was the only student dressed up formally…

Boys were like in sports shoes, jeans and shirt or t-shirt mostly… Girls were in either a salwaars or jeans with t-shirt… I was so embarassed that I actually took off my shirt and wore a t-shirt from my bag right while waiting in the line…

And my VISA was granted in 30 secs or less…

Actually i also had gone in a semi-formal attire. And i had wore clean jeans and shoes to make myself look more smart. But when i reached there i saw that the interview took place through the glass and they could view me only upto my chest. Let alone my pants or shoes, they couldn’t even see my whole shirt ha ha. Everybody goes in casual wear. One guy was in slippers. And that is not an exaggeration. He really was in slippers and looked like he had just got out of bed and directly came to the interview, lol. Dont worry. A clean simple shirt ot tshirt will do the trick.

thanks guys. so semi-formal it is.

@jacobswannabe: wait a minute. you actually took off your shirt while in the line in front of everyone? anyways, congratulations for the visa man.

@nepalimussa yep… I asked the girl behind me to hold my bag for me while I changed the top…

And it wasn’t as weird as it sounds in written form. I wanted to change due to intense summer; and when I saw that everyone else is in semi-formal attire… I couldn’t help myself…

So what happens if our passport expires after two years? Should we come back to Nepal for a new passport? Seniors might be able to help.

Im not exactly sure, but it’s probably a good idea to get a new MRP made while you’re in Nepal. I was there 3 weeks ago, and I got an MRP made. You then carry both your passports, old one (with visa stamp in my case) and the new one. I have the stapled together.

@sixstringsrocker: Does that mean I should get a new passport made now even if my current passport is valid for yet another two years? I did not know we could do that. Thanks.

Yeah, you can make a new one. They’ll stamp your old one as “void without prejudice” and you’ll carry both your passports, if your old one has visas and stuff.

Should we make a police report? Why?

No police report required.
