visa interview

hi guys!

firstly, has anyone gotten their f-1 yet?? as in for real?? i mean i know tango got it in the other thread, but i remember there was some mix up with the schools. anyways, if anyone has gotten it, pleaseplease post your experience here!!!

secondly, im already at the step where im about to schedule an interview. all i have to do is fill out forms ds-156, 157 and 158 and im complete. i already "practiced" filled them out, like in scratch paper so my mom can go through them and see if there are any mistakes i wrote down. she says theyre fine. so now i just have to fill them out officially.should i schedule an interview even if i havent officially filled these forms out??

thanks!!!

Yes, schedule it as soon as possible. Don't worry that much about filling them out -- if you've already taken the time to think about this to the extent you'd be posting a question here, odds are you've done just fine.

I remember scheduling for an interview before sending in any paperwork, but I'm really not sure: if whatever route you're booking through asks you for some sort of confirmation that you've sent in the forms, the worst thing that can happen is you pushing the interview up a little bit. Google the procedure, the SEVIS fee might have to be paid first.

Good luck! Visa interviews really aren't that big of a deal unless you live in a "singled-out" country (countries the US immigration services have labeled as high-risk for illegal immigration due to poverty and whathaveyou. Senseless, I know).

just don't lie, whatever you do.

econdly, im already at the step where im about to schedule an interview. all i have to do is fill out forms ds-156, 157 and 158 and im complete. i already "practiced" filled them out, like in scratch paper so my mom can go through them and see if there are any mistakes i wrote down. she says theyre fine. so now i just have to fill them out officially.should i schedule an interview even if i havent officially filled these forms out??

where can i find these forms to practise on?

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/forms/forms_1342.html

There is no real need for "practicing" though. Just fill them out and if they are correct take them with you to the embassy.

hey valerie! good luck with ur interview! I bet everything is gonna be great!! xD

scandal-less, i just printed them out on scratch paper (i downloaded the forms online) and filled them out. haha!

thanks frrrph! im just really paranoid at this stage because im from the philippines, and i think they flag the country. i mean not red flag like iraq or something, but they keep a close eye on it. eep!

but i went on ahead and scheduled an interview. im set for june 6. wish me luck!!! :)

does anyone here have a problem with DS-157?
I can't seem to fill in question 12: dates of employment.
It says that it has to be in the format mm-dd-yyyy, but I need to fill from .... until.. dates, so how can it be that you can only fill in only 1 date.

you can just write it down. i know that you dont have to computerize the ds-157 anyways. or you can explain to the visa officer once you get there

Is it allowed to fill the DS-157 partial electronically and partial with pen

sorry i wouldnt know. but i think it's better to fill it in one way. im sure theyd wonder why you did half and half..

oh my goodness.. am I really like.. behind in this whole visa process? I haven't started preparing for anything really.. Like, my college hasnt even sent the I-20 yet. Is there anything I could do right now? Or should I just be waiting for my I-20..?

Just make sure that you have a biometric passport (they take a while to be issued) and that you don't need to file any additional documents to get your I-20. Other than that there is not much you can do right now.

Yeah, not much you can do until you get your I-20.

take a deep breath and calm down. the visa process isn't THAT difficult or exhausting. there's absolutely no need to get tense....or is there...

NoFX, is your I-20 not with you because the college hasnt sent it??? if it hasnt contact your college immediately!!!!!

if it's on the way, i suggest you renew your passport if the date it expires is before your graduation date.

Ok thanks guys..
Well.. they said that they'll send my I-20 after they recieve my deposit..and I sent in my deposit during late April.. so yeah?
I'll go see if I need to renew my passport! thanks!

good luck nofx!

i've already scheduled my interview. good thing you guys advised me to schedule it asap, the earliest i can get is june 6! so there. im having my interview on the 6th of june. hahaha wish me luck!
