Visa J-1 to return to US

<p>I'm now in US with an exchange student program and I plan to apply to college here for entry in 2012.
The thing is, my visa right now (J-1) required me to have a mandatory two-year home-country physical presence prior to reentry to the United States.
Does anybody know if I can be waived from this rule?
Or can I postpone my entrance to the college if my visa application rejected?</p>

<p>J-1 waivers depend on many factors. You need to ask your sponsor what you need to do to get a waiver.</p>

<p>Most colleges and universities in the US will allow you to defer admission for one year. Some will allow it for two years. You need to ask each college/university what their specific policy is.</p>
