At West Point, if you require corrected vision, are you allowed to wear contacts throughout the entire journey? Or are you required to wear glasses?

Glasses are mandatory during the first summer's cadet basic training (Beast). After that you are free to wear contacts except for certain field training exercises.

BCG's are what the issued glasses are called.

and they are huge and ridiculous!

Don't forget the sports strap to hold them on your face. Also, bring a civillian pair, because if they don't have yours done in time, you're not going to be able to do some of the training with contacts. Bring a case for them, too. When you go to shoot, if you have a problem with them staying high enough to see through, ask and see if you can switch to civvie ones to qualify, or suffer having them modified with tape and ear plugs. When you're in the field, toss them in your boots at night so you don't lose them.
