visit again in fall for interview?

I knew I liked Grinnell even before I visited in February. After my visit I decided to apply ED next year. but, since I'm a junior I didn't interview. I didn't spend the night on campus either. do you think it's worth making a second trip later from Texas this year or should I just try to do an alumni interview somewhere near home?

They did let my son interview as a junior, but we visited in April so maybe that made a difference. If you liked it enough to apply ED, I think you could just do an alumni interview in your area.

i think the fact that you’re applying ED shows sufficient interest, so I would also vote for the alumni interview. I think you have to get the application supplement in first before they will schedule this, though.

Does Grinnell send an admissions’ rep to visit your school or attend an area college fair? If so, that might be another option for you. My daughter opted for this - did not interview during her Grinnell visit - but researched when the Grinnell rep would be in town and e-mailed him ahead of time to schedule an interview.

thanks. no, they don’t visit my school but maybe there will someone in the area this fall. I’ll check that out. last time they were here I think it was for the 8 of the best tour and that won’t be in our area again this year, so I’m not sure if they have a special trip planned. i didn’t know they had alumni interviews - that could work, too.

griffen–I don’t know whether they do alumni interviews. You were the one who mentioned it, so I thought you knew. I’d suggest e-mailing or calling admissions to ask them. I believe I remember that their interviews are evaluative, not just informational, so you would want to find out from them whether an interview could improve your chances and, if so, whether there is a chance you could do one closer to home. Mention that you are planning to apply ED. I would wait for awhile before contacting them though because they are probably dealing with waitlist issues (if they are going to the waitlist).
