Hi,
I am a student in Houston and been wandering how to visit Rice besides "formal tours". i don't really know how. The informal tour should consists of staying with students in the dorm over a night, eat in the cafeteria etc. I don't know how to do all that (besides the eating thing, I love all you can eat at Rice)

Is this what you are talking about? The overnight visits are on the Rice webpage under “Visit Rice”.

Are there former students from your high school who are current students at Rice? If you’re not sure, your school’s guidance counselor should be able to tell you. Maybe you could get in touch with one or two of those students and ask them if they’d be willing to show you around and answer some questions? We’re from California, and my daughter visited for the first time during Owl Days, after she’d been accepted, but she felt the most helpful information she got during that stay was from a girl from her HS in CA who was a sophomore at Rice at the time. They got together at the student center for coffee and then went to the girl’s dorm to meet some other people (who were all very friendly and happy to answer questions). Maybe you could do something similar?
