visit?

My D will be a sr. St Olaf has popped up late in her search process. Because of her schedule we are struggling to try to get her up there for a visit. At this point we have opted to see if she gets invited to the scholars/music scholarships invite in March. We may try to get up there sooner, but it won't be before she applies.

She really likes it on paper and the web. She is interested in vocal music (she is in a magnet high school for performing arts, has sung in Europe and China, has a 5 on her Music Theory AP test, was 1st chair oboe for our metro youth orchestra and has 10 years of piano.) She also is interested in international relations and public policy, particularly for developing countries.

So, what are the opinions? Should we try to get her up there this fall or wait to see if she is accepted and invited up for the later time?

She has a weighted 4.1 in honors and AP, which is a regular 4.0. She has an ACT 32 and an SAT 2090 along with some other AP scores in the 4's. (She's prez of Nat'l Honor Society, plays on tennis team and works a few jobs as well as active at her church and volunteers at a food pantry.)

I'll be a sophomore at Olaf in the fall, and your daughter seems to be a strong candidate for St. Olaf. My (unprofessional) opinion would say since you aren't from anywhere very close, it's not as crucial that you make a visit before she applies. I've heard that they are getting tougher on kids who live in the Twin Cities metro area who don't make a campus visit, but seeing as you're from Ohio, I have a feeling they'll be more lenient :-)

Logistically, there is not a lot of time between when you are accepted and when you need to give a decision, right? If St. Olaf's is a real contender for you, you might want to go for a visit after you have applied but before you receive the formal letter of acceptance. I agree with the Ole Wanna Be - I think you will be accepted there.
