Visit?

I have been on the NYU campus several times and I am familiar both with the Village and the city. I am used to big city life (I live near Chicago) and I would be more than comfortable going to school in such an environment, if fact, I could not see myself going anywhere else. All in all, it is by far my top choice and I would really love to attend.

That having said, I have never been on an "official" visit to NYU and most likely will not be able to make it again before I apply, and I am hoping to get in ED to CAS and I feel like I have a better than average shot (3.8, 30 ACT, strong ECs).

My question is, will they frown upon me because, as far as they know, I have never even seen the campus and I am applying ED which is for students who really show a lot of interest? How do I show them that I am committed to attending without a visit?

Oh and an unrelated question. The acceptance ratio of women to men is 3:2. Why is this? Would being a male help, hinder of have no affect of my chances?

Thanks

They won’t know if you visited or not so it won’t be a factor.

Not sure about the 2:1 thing.

NYU doesn’t really have any questions that gauge their applicants’ interest level directly, so they don’t really consider it. As opposed to universities like emory who take it heavily into consideration. You could show them your strong desire to attend by writing an amazing essay, which they do put substantial weight on.

I thought that NYU’s gender ratio was 60:40 F:M, but regardless, it will not affect your app.

Is that really the ratio? That’s mildly…hilarious.

You should be good for ED. Your stats sound about right for people who are admitted.

And they’ll know you’re committed just by the fact that you’re applying ED, because they know that if you’re accepted, you’ll go. So don’t worry about that.

bourne12, just make sure that FA is not a big and deciding factor for you because applying ED may affect what financial aid you need.

alright thanks guys
Now I hope I get in!
