Well academically Cornell seems terrific for what I wish to study. As for quality of life, and having fun, it seems to be a worse choice than some other schools I'm considering.

Comments when I visited:

I walked around Campus all day, and saw like 10 good looking girls. It was like 50 out, and windy, but this is a ridiculous number considering I saw hundreds and hundreds of students. My second visit reaffirmed the conclusion I drew after my first (it was late fall then though).
It was a weekday, and not too many people were out, so maybe I'm just getting unlucky.

Do most attractive girls on campus tend to go Greek? I just don't see how Emory and other top-notch schools have so many bright AND gorgeous students. Add in the fact that I kind of want to attend a school with school spirit (sports-wise) and Cornell looks even less appealing.

I guess I'm just posting an observation and praying someone debases it.

If you like Asian girls, Cornell is not bad at all. The white girls are definitely subpar on average, however (at least compared to where I come from in florida).

I’m sorry, I meant Vanderbilt…I have no idea why I typed Emory.
And you bring up a good point with hockey. I’ve always associated school spirit more with basketball and football.

It’s unfortunate you agree about sub par white girls but I guess it’s just another con I’ll need to factor in. :(

On **************.com both Emory and Cornell share a “C+” rating in this particular category.

cornell is around 50% male, 50% female…therefore more than 10 girls are on cornell’s campus. and there is definitely MORE school spirit here than at emory. everyone is seen doning cornell gear, regardless if there is a sports game going on. everyone also gets excited for the season openings of football and lacrosse…and hockey of course

Yeah, I saw a crazy number of people wearing Cornell sweatshirts/jackets when I went.

ALSO, why are there so many threads like this in this discussion board? Other schools seem to have NORMAL people posting, everyone at Cornell seems to be fearing social deprivation. Why? :P

because cornell is “in the middle of nowhere” ^

think how i felt when i had been walking around all day everyday for a day or two and saw VERY LITTLE cute guys. its much harder to find cute guys over cute girls, at least a subpar girl can primp herself up to look better with hair and makeup!

but, i think its definately where you go and what you attend. i went to the ILR fashion show and WHEW!!! topless guys were OH SO SCRUMPTIOUS. lol anyways im getting off topic becuase you are looking for girls. there were really really pertty girls there too, and we went to the afterparty and there were many pretty people. although it was mostly black. other people in my visit group saw a lot of cute ppl, especially if they went out to different events. but definately while i was walking around i didnt see these people. they exist! i refuse to believe otherwise! lol

^Social life is a legit reason to choose a college especially when two colleges are similar academically, but I’m not sure about the “more attractive women” part. I think NU and Cornell both have its own share of them. =]

I honestly don’t believe one school can somehow attract more attractive people than another school. It’s like saying smart people are all ugly and that blondes are all stupid. There are attractive people everywhere and ugly people everywhere. I don’t think the % of attractive people vs. the % of unattractive ones vary much from school to school. If you’re going to school based on this reason, you should go to drama school. Those students pretty much have to be attractive (there are exceptions, of course, but on the whole, they are).

Certain types of schools tend to attract certain types of people. It’s just a fact.

Go to a school in California near a beach, like UCSD, and then go to Harvard… you seriously think there won’t be more attractive students at UCSD?

i disagree that the males and females at cornell are less attractive than other tops schools. if you argue that the nerdiest girls and guys are the least attractive, cornell should be doing better than harvard or yale…

but at least if many Cornell girls are ugly, it’s easy for those of us who are attractive to get whatever guys we want… lol

If you have proof, I’ll believe you. If you don’t, it’s just personal speculation. It may seem that way, but we have no proof. Unless you want to go collect data and perform a hypothesis test, and even by then I don’t know what you’ll judge as “attractive” and “unattractive” in your test, I’ll take your statement as a bunch of crap.
