I ask way too many questions, don't I? Sorry about that.

In any case, I plan to visit Wash U after the application deadline, but before decisions come out, as the title of this post says (January 29 is the exact date I'll be going). Out of curiosity, are visits after the deadline still taken into consideration during the application review process?

Thanks!

good question! been wondering this myself…

I suspect it just depends on when they get to your application. If they don’t get to it till Jan 30th, your golden; Before the 29th, you might be out of luck. They also might track it based on who has registered for a visit, though, so they’d see you have a visit coming up and record that for your file.

Is visiting the campus a big deal in term of one’s chance of admission? Because I live in the Northeast and visiting may be a problem for many reasons…

I’m honestly not sure of the answer to this question, BUT, here’s what I know: WashU is very big on showing interest.

If you plan to visit the school at the end of January, you can call up admissions and reserve a spot at the information session/tour today (well… maybe not today, as it’s New Years, but very soon.)

The information that you are visiting in the near future will then be in your file for the admissions committee to see, which can only help you.

There is really no evidence that WashU is very big on showing interest. It might be true and then it might be not. No one really knows for sure. Every year many students were admitted without visiting the school first. Visit WashU if you can to find out more about the school, but do not worry about it if you cannot make it.

Directly from the Washington University Undergraduate Admissions Website FAQ Page:

** Do I have a better chance of being admitted if I visit campus? **
*
When reviewing your application, we will look for signs of interest in Washington University. So a visit to campus is one way to let us know that you are really interested in Washington U. A campus visit is also one of the best ways to see what a great community we have here, and it can help you make your decision if you are offered admission. We do realize, of course, that many students are unable to visit until the end of their senior year of high school. Applicants to Washington University who have not yet visited are given full consideration. *

In other words, showing interest is important, but it can only help you (meaning that not visiting won’t hurt you.)

Thank you very much for pointing this out.

Thanks ampersand&, that clears it up for me.

No problem guys! :)

Thanks for all of the information, everyone! Happy new year!
