Visiting Ann Arbor

I am planning to visit Ann Arbor this Friday, hopefully the weather is good, I was woundering what are some of the places that u guys think I should check out? Are there any parties this Friday?
Thank you

It is supposed to cold on Friday but no snow. There’s a hockey game against Ferris on Friday.

Definitely recommend going to the hockey game, especially if you haven’t been to one before. They are always a blast.

Zingerman’s. Expensive, but worth it (at least that’s what people tell me).

As a potential Michigan student, I’d recommend the following:

Explore Central Campus/diag area. Central Campus is where most of the activity happens in the university and you can see “student life” there. I’d recommend sitting in a course, perhaps a generic large lecture class like chem 130 or physics 140 (if thats what your interested in) or even econ 101 or 102. Its always fun to experience college life and get some excitement out of it. You can look up where/when the courses are on

[LSA Course Guide](LSA Course Guide)

Go to Main Street and/or Liberty/State st. Main street is the center of ann arbor where most of the businesses are located. Liberty/State st. has businesses a bit more catering to university students. Just browse around (at night if your not at the game) and enjoy Ann Arbor like any other town. You’ll find that most people are friendly and fun to talk to.

Perhaps go to the game if you can find the tickets and get a head start on your school spirit.

Food: If your parents are paying go to main street or Zingermans. Main street has a lot of good fine dining restaurants and Zingermans is simply a classic.

Try to visit some of the following:
Michigan Union
Shapiro Undergraduate Library (watch students in their real environment!)
B-School if that’s where you want to be
Angel Hall/Fish Bowl Area (again students in their real environment)

Sitting in on a class is a good way to get a feel for the school. I would recommend going to something that you took an AP class in so you have a better opportunity to keep up with the discussion. Also I would recommend finding a smaller class rather than a large lecture. It is helpful to be in a class where the students are participating to get a flavor of the caliber of student at the school. If there is an instructor in the course guide it is recommended you email them beforehand so they know to expect you. I have never had a problem and most are very friendly.

Will they invite accepted students to visit? When are these dates usually if this is what they do? Also, do I need to do anything at this point after being admitted? (I’m international)

^ i think they have the campus day. You have to register for that.

thanks for suggestions guys
