Visiting BU for Admitted student weekend Apr 17th

Hi
I am visiting BU for admitted student weekend on Apr 17th along with my D who will be attending the SMG open house. Can anybody give me some suggestions on places to stay near campus that are relatively inexpensive? We will be there only for the weekend. Also, will we need a car to get around? Is there public transportation to the hotels? Is it possible to stay in the dorms?

The Hampton Inn in Cambridge was relatively reasonable-with AAA membership, it came to around $132/night. Hampton Inn also includes a complimentary breakfast, although fwiw, they do serve continental breakfast items (bagels, danish, coffee, tea, juice, etc) at the Admitted Students Day check-in. (D and I attended the CAS Admitted Students Day, though I would assume that SMG would have a similar schedule)

Also, the Cambridge Hampton Inn is located right near one of the MBTA Green Line stops. (the Green Line also goes through Boston U. down Commonwealth Ave.) If you’re flying into Logan Airport then I would think that you wouldn’t need a car. Because the airline we used doesn’t have service to Logan (yet), we had to use a different airport, and needed to rent a car. As far as I know, BU doesn’t arrange overnights in the dorms for Accepted Student’s Day, but you can always check with admissions to be sure.

Thanks momonthehill

You’re welcome - Have a good visit. :)
