I got in and am ridiculously happy. Still, I am applying to a few other schools and definitely plan on spending a night on campus.

Current students-Do you think I'll get a better feel for the life at Chicago doing my overnight in January or February, or in April with all the other accepted people?

Also, how fast does good housing go? I kinda got scared by the description of some of the places on Unalove's list.

Depends on which housing you want. Basically if it's not Snell-Hitchcock, you're pretty safe waiting. Most students get their first or second choice housing.

The accepted student days have organized programs and lots of other prospies, so if you really want those things, you should wait. If you don't care much about going to an organized program, then visiting this winter would be great. Remember that you'll be very busy in April visiting schools, preparing for AP tests, and deciding on a college. You should also remember that an overnight experience usually tells you very little--I hated my overnight, but I love the school now that I'm there.

can unalove or any current students tell us when students will be on break? i found the academic calendar online that says theres a break on feb. 15, is this just the day? i want to plan on coming up during my winter break in feb, so any information about when the best time for that is would be appreciated.

Spring Break is March 20-30, and reading period and finals are March 13-19. Those would be times to avoid for sure. Undergraduate Break Day (Feb. 15) is just one day.

I would say visit in the winter.... if you're from the Midwest, you know what cold to expect, but if you're from the East Coast, West Coast, or the South, the cold is going to be an ENORMOUS shock to you, so dress warmly.

As far as I know, overnights run throughout the winter, as do tours and such.
