Visiting Carleton

Hi everyone! This Memorial Day break, my friend and I are planning to road trip out to Minnesota and visit Macalester, Carleton, and of course, the Mall of America. What would you advise we do during our time at Carleton? I was thinking about taking a campus tour, possibly an interview, and then just a walk around to get the general feel of the school. Are there any places a prospective student would not know about that current Carleton students often go to, or any places in the town of Northfield? Any advise would be appreciated

I’m not technically a current Carleton student (yet!), but I’d definitely recommend going for a walk or run in the Arb! I ran on some of the trails when I visited and it was so beautiful! And if you get a chance, try to have a student bring you to Dacie Moses! I baked cookies with a girl on my visit and it was lots of fun even though they turned out… interestingly  (We modified the recipe in several places and substituted some stuff when there were no eggs…)

But definitely talk to as many students as you can while you’re there; they’re all very friendly and willing to share lots about their school, and it’ll really help you get a feel for what the atmosphere is like.
