How does Facebook affect your admission? Will the admissions committee be able to hack into Facebook and see my profile?

When visiting colleges, is it necessary to go to the admissions office and tell the people there that you visited, so that they can mark your name down, knowing that you're "interested." Otherwise, they'll never know you visited at all!

They will know you visited, because you put that down on your application. Also, by interviewing, you can ensure that they know you visited.

Okay, good. :)

Now what about Facebook?

Bump.
:)

they’re not going to “hack” your facebook lol

set your privacy settings so that only friends can see you profile and everything else including wall and pictures. or change your facebook name to make yourself “unsearchable”. or, deactivate it during admissions season and re-activate after decisions are done.

If I deactivate it, then won’t the admissions officer know that by utilizing their computer men and suspect that I had something inappropriate on my wall? (Which I do not anyway)

Most people, aka everyone I know, has their profile on some kind of privacy setting. It won’t cause any suspicion. Who has a completely public profile?

deactivating your facebook is like deleting it, except one day you can re-activate it. but while it’s deactivated, it’s completely gone. it’s like you never created one
