We found out all sorts of things on our visits that we likely never would have found out any other way. Like the most famous composer at Harvard's music department never teaches undergraduates, and only graduate students in alternate years. Or that Yale highly discourages study abroad, and fewer than 8% actually do it. We found out "atmospheric things" as well, such as my d. finding the general environment at Williams too athletic and too "unsober" for her liking, or that artistic pursuits at Reed were, for all intensive purposes, an oxymoron. She also discovered (much to our surprise) that she perferred schools "in" a real town rather than those "near" cities.

Finally, having already finished a year at a co-ed institution (Evergreen), she had no problem with a women's college whatsoever.
