This Sunday I'll be making my first visit to Columbia. This is my first ever college visit and I'm not really sure what to do. Are there any places that I shouldn't miss? Any people that I should definitely talk to? Should I stop at the Visitors' Center, or is that closed on the weekends? Since it's a Sunday, will I only be able to wander the campus, aimlessly? Any and all help/advice is appreciated.

You may want to check this out … [Visiting Columbia | Columbia University in the City of New York](http://www.columbia.edu/content/visiting-columbia.html). The FAQs include a description of weekend visits (not much is open). The campus is not very big so you easily can walk the whole main campus. Besides a walking tour of the campus I’d suggest walking up and down Broadway a few blocks to check out Morningside Heights … it’s a unique setting for a campus … some students love it and some hate it. If you are a women I’d suggest crossing Broadway and checking out Barnard also. Have fun!

I’d say visit Barnard even if you’re not a woman. It’s a lovely little space.
