We'll be going up this Fri/Sat. D is a Jr. Plan on doing a info session Fri afternoon (3pm)and the 11 tour on Sat. ( I may have that backwards). Would it be worthwhile to go into collegetown Sat morning for breakfast to see it or better to see it Sat afternoon/eve? Where would be a good place to eat breakfast; collegetown or one of the dining halls on campus. More interested in getting as much of a sense of Cornell as possible than having the 'best' breakfast. Thanks-

my twin is going up to cornell this weekend too! it's probably better to eat in one of the dining halls and see what the food is like. u're going to be eating that for like the next 4 years.

css22, I can't help you with recommendations or anything... but if I were you, just spend time anywhere you can. Also, if no one replies, you may want to try: http://www.visitithaca.com/ (if you haven't already)

You can try the popular Collegetown Bagels in Collegetown for breakfast. Their website is: http://www.collegetownbagels.com

I don't think college kids tend to get up in time for breakfast on weekend mornings, so it is possible that you wouldn't see many people in the dining hall if you were to have breakfast there on Saturday morning.

Here is the link to finding Ithaca restaurants: http://www.visitithaca.com/dining/dining.cfm

Hi, I'm not sure if you'll still have time to see this, but I'm a freshman at Cornell this year so I thought I might be able to offer a little insight...All freshmen are housed on North Campus over Thurston Avenue Bridge (there's some pretty ugly construction going on there right now, actually, all over campus, but it's normally not like that :) ). So that's where you'd be living, as I'm sure they'll tell you. As for getting the "Cornell Experience," I would reccommend going to a dining hall. They are way overpriced (I believe it's around $6.50 for breakfast which is until 1030)but that's where most students go if they a) go to breakfast and b) don't go to Collegetown Bagels. The dining halls that most freshmen use are RPU and Appel (both located on North), but RPU isn't open for breakfast, so I think your best bet is Appel.

As a side note, CTB does have the best bagels anywhere. Whenever I go home my family always requests that I bring home CTB bagels, so it may be worth a little side trip...

Anyway, I hope you have a great trip. I really really love it here and cannot imagine being anywhere else. If you have any other questions, just post them!

Edit: And if you're going to be here on Sunday, you just HAVE to get Sunday Brunch at Robert Purcell (RPU). Opens at 10. Highlight of my week :) .

I'll just second what 'cornell frosh' said. The best experience would be at a dining hall, despite the high prices and the fact that earlier, prior to the tour, there may not be as many students as there are in the 11-1 hours. CTB is a good place to stop in Collegetown, and shows a little bit more of the life where upperclassmen live off-campus.
And as a side note, if you're coming Friday, I might just possibly see you at the info session (I don't know how late I'm staying)- so I'd be happy to answer any other questions! :)
