I'm heading up to visit Dartmouth in a few weeks, but due to time constraints it's going to have to be on a Saturday. What parts of it are open on Sat. and what things (other than the standard tour) should I be sure to check out?

i'm also going up for a visit...

anyone have anything they can add?

is admissions open for interviews on the weekend?

(when you going vig180? )

Thanks.

stay the night, especially if its a a fri, sat, or wed

Their website says nothing other than tours on the weekend. I'll be up there the 22nd-23rd.

I'll be there from the 22nd-30th. I hope you guys have fun =]

i have to agree with benedwodo. stay the night; it's more fun that way, and your host/hostess can show you around.

I agree; it was a wonderful experience for me.

FountainSiren ~ did you visit dartmouth over the summer?

Yes, I visited D over the summer (it is beautiful); I stayed the night in November though.

i went in august, and it was absolutely gorgeous, like ... the epitome of what a college should look like. everything about it was beautiful, the buildings, the greenery all around, and the people were so nice and friendly, and went so out of their way to be helpful, i thought they were on crack lol. no, really, they were cool. :)

allureny,

are u applying to dartmouth rd?

Forecast high for Saturday: 17! Glad I got a new winter coat since this is going to be colder than it's ever gotten in Memphis.

I wish I could have arranged an overnight visit, but I didn't see that option listed on the website.

Does Dartmouth have "open houses" for accepted students in the spring?

They do have a spring weekend for admitted students dubbed "Dimensions" and likely to be around the 3rd weekend in April. If that proves to be a conflict, you can plan an overnight for one of the weekends preceding or following that date - the planned weekend is apparently wonderful. My child could not attend, but still had a wonderful overnight visit on an off weekend.

FountainSiren, no, I didn't. I wish I did though. So I'm probably on the Dartmouth boards to placate my sense of remorse. The only thing that I found a bit lacking was the art department. Oh well. Best wishes on your apps.

The winter storm stopped us at Saratoga. We got up at 7 to get over the Greens but it looked like it would hit the area around noon so we had to abandon the visit. Crazy Northeastern weather... how can anyone stand it for four years?

I think once you get over the initial shock of how ungodly cold it is (i grew up in montreal so i kinda have a feel for it), then you can get to enjoy building snowmen, going sledding, skating, skiiing, having snowball fights....reading under a blanket with a cup of hot chocolate...it kind of creates a cozy atmosphere.

hey~ im visiting in february...how bad is the weather at that time of year? also, what are some places/things i should make sure i do/see while im there? thnx

I love snooow. :)

If I visit, is there any place to park my car at Dartmouth
