I am a high school junior interested in Emory. I have booked my tour session and all of the formal parts, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to make my trip worthwhile? Things to do, see, etc.? Thanks.

Are you coming from out of state and want to know what else there is to see/do besides just visiting the campus? Or do you want to know things to definately see on campus?

On campus: Lullwater Park and the Schwarz Center top my list of places to see that are not on the tour

Off campus: Georgia Aquarium, Fox Theatre, Stone Mountain, Coca-Cola Museum, and the High Art museum's Louvre exhibit

Lullwater is my favorite place on campus, but i also like the Carlos Museum on the quad. It's not huge, but how many schools have their own museum right on the quad where students can go just to take a break and contemplate things other than their classes (Lullwater is good for that too).

Go to the top floor of the Woodruff Library to see one of world's greatest skylines. Downtown, Midtown and Buckhead are all beautiful and unique. You can see the progression of the city from old to new as it goes from South to North, Downtown to Buckhead. Watching the city grow the next four years will be a pleasure. The sunbelt is the place to be these days.

From the library i could see Buckhead has at least 5 future skyscrapers under construction. It's gonna be cooool....

On the parents cafe there is a thread called something like "stuck in atlanta for six long days" and it has some great ideas of places to visit in Atlanta. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=315383

Yeah check out Carlos and maybe have lunch in the cafe on the top floor. Try to sit in on some classes and have lunch in either Cox or the DUC.

eat at the museum on campus!! it's so nice.
spend time in the libraries, they're beautiful, and in atlanta save some time for a cnn tour. it sounds cheesy, but it's really interesting.
if you don't know where you're staying yet, i strongly recommend the westin peachtree plaza -- the pool is gorgeous, and the view from the top is impressive.

and it's like 65006506 bucks per night. it's close to the aquarium though

I was asking for things to do on as well as off campus. Thanks everyone, I'm printing this thread and taking it with me. . . I'm sure I'll love it though.
