Visiting Home

How often do students visit home from college? I'm going to college 2.5 hour drive from my home (but there is a daily bus to and from my school parking lot to a major subway station in my home city).

Is it weird if you go visit home and leave your room mates alone?

I went home about every 3 weeks, including breaks. The longest I was ever at school was 6.5 weeks between Easter and the end of the semester.

No, it’s not weird to go home occasionally. It would be weird to go home every weekend. I went home fall break, winter break and spring break, and I lived 2 1/2 hours from school. My friends visited a couple of times though. School was more fun on weekends than home, so I didn’t go back often.

I have gone home for breaks, as well as to watch the house for my mom when she is off at a conference for a weekend or do do laundry. I only live about half an hour away though, so I can just stop by home for a few hours and go back to school easily.

On a note though, as well as you may trust your roommates take your valuables like your laptop and cell phone home with you when you do go home. They have friends, and I have found that friends of roommates sometimes have sticky fingers.

My parents live about half an hour from my school, so I have lunch with my mom once a week or every other week. I only go home when I desperately need to get something I left behind or when I’m kicked out of the dorm over break.

When my sister went to college 3,000 miles away from home, she only came home during breaks.

Yeah, my little sister is 4 hours away and only comes home on breaks.

I’m gonna be like 3 1/2 to 4hrs away, but I’m probably only going to go back during breaks…or like an emergency or something.
