Visiting in two weeks. Must see/do?

Yes shouldnt have said rural! Meant it’s far from large city amenities. Like that there is a target etc super close. We are from a small city three hours from Portland so she’s sensitive to open road.

We came in thru RDU. Stopped at UNC after which, while great area, just felt too big.

And I agree it’s not - just noting that there’s nothing adjacent - i.e. within walking distance. Some kids want that every day near campus experience. Mine did. And that’s why she removed Elon upon visiting where dad thought it was beautiful.

So is it Elon or what’s the final consideration set?

Did she get into UNC too?

She’s a junior. So will apply Elon and also looking at Lehigh, BC, American and Santa Clara. Knows she wants the 5000-8000 kid range but open to lots of versions of that. Wanted to be in NE as that’s where she wants to end up but Elon really felt welcoming. So we’ve got some time.

ohhhhhh - just a Junior.

Lehigh is nice - but in a different way - lots of hills - and the architecture is - well - darker

BC gorgeous. AU is suburban for DC - so hope you get to all those.

You do have time!!

If she likes the Northeast and you have BC on your list, you might check out Fairfield.

Ithaca College and U Maine might fit her too.

Best of luck.

Thanks may look at Fairfield. We’ve toured the rest and so far, like them all in different ways. Elon stands out to me as the best fit. Time will tell!

Thank you for this. I have to remember this. My son visited last week and I wanted him to be blown away. From a parent POV Elon has everything I’d want for him. Unfortunately, he is still undecided and will be visiting Belmont U soon. I think the draw of a city like Nashville (we live in a bigger city) is huge for him. Yet as a parent, the thought that he’d be OUT of a big city for a few years is so enticing.

But, as you said, we have to let him come to his own conclusion. It’s not about me. And it’s hard to let go.
