Visiting Ithaca and Cornell!

Hi,

I’m from the UK, and my friends and I are doing a road trip across the US in the summer. We pass through Ithaca in late July. We’d love to soak up the university atmosphere in the city, eat some great food, visit some nice bars, and explore the nightlife. It would be great to hear your advice on where to go, what to see, and where to stay!

Thanks

Andy

I am here right now visiting my daughter who is a senior. We are having a great weekend, except the weather is a bit cold.

The Statler hotel is right on campus. You may want to rent a place via Airbnb on the lake, which is a very short distance from Cornell.
Ale House is good for bar food and live music on Fri and Sat night.
The Boat House would be a good place to hang out for afternoon drinks, especially if you could get a table outdoor.
Carriage House is good brunch and lunch, very close to campus.
Just a Taste - good tapas.
Maxi’s super club oyster bar - locals go there, good seafood.
The Heights - very good upscale food, need reservation

Saigon Kitchen–awesome Vietnamese food

Agree with Oldforts recommendations.

The Commons downtown is more of a local and Ithaca College vibe. College town is more Cornell oriented.

There are also many beautiful waterfalls and parks in the Ithaca area including in Trumansburg, about 20 minutes to half hour north of Ithaca. The are also many wineries in the Finger Lakes.

It is a beautiful place to visit.

Thanks everyone! really helpful
