Hi. I'm taking S to visit Lehigh next week - campus tour and info session. We'll be in the area the night before -arriving around dinner time on Monday night (I'm expecting it will be kind of quiet on campus).

Any inside tips for the visit? Are there popular near-campus restaurants we should have dinner at to get a feel for the area? Anything we should check out that's not on the tour?

I recommend either Historic Hotel Bethlehem or Hyatt Place Bethlehem for lodging if you have not yet made your reservation. My son loves to eat at Bethlehem Brew Works. We usually hang in the historic area - nice restaurants and shops and a short drive over the bridge to Lehigh.

And ya, haha, the hills! Wear comfortable clothes and good sneakers or walking shoes. Enjoy, the campus is stunning, my son loves it!

Are you staying at the new Marriott Courtyard in Bethlehem Township? If so, allow 20 minutes (or so) to drive into the city and then to the South Side. If you’re staying where I think you are, there are plenty of chain options for dinner – Ruby Tuesday’s, Friday’s, Texas Roadhouse, etc. – in case you’re too tired at the end of the day to search for parking in the city.

Hope you enjoyed your trip to Lehigh today. I think that Allentown/Bethlehem has the best priceline hotel choices. I’ve stayed at the Residence Inn, the Courtyard by Marriott and the Four Points by Sheraton. All are great and pretty equal. You can’t go wrong with 3* in this area.

My D takes her visitors to the Brew Works, it’s always nice. We also like Tulum, she eats at the Goose a lot and talks about Sals but every time we’ve tried to eat there it’s packed.

Thank you all! Today was great! Well worth the visit! S loved the school. So many great things. He’s only a HS soph, but really got into it today. It will definitely be on his list! Time will tell if it will be on top… we will see.

(Residence Inn at the airport - $60. Can’t beat that.)
