I visited my D during in December for 3 nights and stayed at the on campus "hotel". I was very surprised to find that the room (2 twin beds) was really very good, not luxurious, but everything was there, including free wireless internet. A "real" breakfast was included in the room rate. The rate was less than many of the local hotels which were many miles away from MHC. This place, being on campus, was much more convenient, of course. Restaurants -- well the student center works fine, and the Commons across the street has 6 or so good eateries. Ample free parking. Only problem is there are only about 20 rooms and you must have a MHC reason to stay there. The rooms have no view, but that's not why you stay there. I will stay there again when visiting my D, without hesitation.

Yes, the Willits-Halowell Center is very nice for visiting family and alums. Unfortunately, it is difficult to book a room when large campus events are happening which will bring tons of visitors to the campus. In the last decade or so, many more hotels have been built in the Hadley, Amherst, and Chicopee areas, leading to many more options than there used to be. A new Hampton Inn is in Chicopee, as well as one in West Springfield, and both of those are clean and offer breakfast as part of the room rate. It takes about 20 minutes to drive to MHC from either of those hotels. It’s also about 20 minutes or so from Hadley/Amherst to MHC.

We have used the Hampton Inn in Chicopee. It’s about 6 miles from campus, very nice breakfast included, a good place to stay. Also within sight of Mass Pike.

Our " hotel of choice" during our daughter’s four years at MHC was the Marriott Courtyard on Route 9 in Hadley. We found the staff very accomodating. The hotel is located hetween Amherst and Northampton and there are several alternative ways to get to Mount Holyoke, which is about 20 minutes away, depending on route chosen. Although breakfast is not included, it is available on-site. There is a diner and a Chili’s in the shopping plaza across Route 9 and a Friendly’s practically next door. Amherst is a very easy drive and has much to offer in terms of eateries.
