Visiting New Paltz: restaurant suggestion?

I am taking my D, who is a junior, to visit New Paltz. I would like to get a feel for the town so I thought we would have lunch there before the tour, any suggestions? Anything else that we should check out? Thanks.

I would suggest The Guilded Otter…it is at the end of town on the right side before the bridge. You can walk around Water Street market which is across the street. When walking around town, don’t just stick to Main Street, check out the side streets which have some fun shops. We also like the smoothies at Karma Road and the yummy baked goods at The Bakery. There are so many good restaurants in New Paltz…if your daughter decides to go there she will have no shortage of eating options!

Thanks Lily Moon, We enjoyed a nice lunch at the Guilded Otter. Too bad it wasn’t warm enough to eat outside, the patio looked very inviting. We browsed Water Street Market, where my D bought some jewelry and clothes. I think the town of New Paltz has a lot to offer for a small college town, lots of ethnic restaurants ,coffee shops, etc… I liked it and so did my daughter. My D likes photography but is not all artsy. We both liked the laid back feel of the town and campus. Thanks again.
