Hi all,

We are visiting Stanford with our D on Tuesday. We are planning on going to the info session/tour, and having her attend a Management Science & Engineering class (her desired area of study at this point). Since we will be there all day and overnight, wondering what recommendations you have for things we must do or see while there. Dinner recommendations also appreciated :-)

Thanks!

The view from the top of Hoover Tower is pretty amazing…you can see the whole campus from up there.

Try events.stanford.edu. It has a listing of the interesting events on Tuesday. For dinner, most things in Palo Alto are good, but I like the Sprout Cafe just a few blocks down University Avenue. See if you can’t get a peek into a dorm and have her spend some time talking with students to get a feel for the place. Does she have any friends on campus who can give her a less generic viewpoint of Stanford?

If you can, go to Half-Moon Bay at around 9 PM! The most amazing sunset I have ever seen. It’s about 30ish minutes away from Stanford.

Hi all,

Thanks for the recommendations.

Sea Legs: Thx…Hoover Tower was amazing.

Evig: Good call on Sprout. We had dinner there last night, thanks to your recommendation and loved it.

Blue: Half Moon Bay must wait til next time. Hopefully, once she’s accepted :-)

Thanks again!

P.S. Oh, and by the way, she LOVED Stanford. Not sure how anybody doesn’t. Now all she has to do is be one of the lucky 7-8%!

Mikey- Everyone loves Stanford, except for those jealous kids over at Berkeley… : )
But, in all seriousness, at admit weekend, I asked a number of current students if they knew any fellow students who didn’t like Stanford, and no one could think of anyone at all. Good luck to your daughter!
