Visiting Oxy soon - anything we should *not miss?*

We are taking a tour and having an information session, and we won't be rushed for time. Any must do's on campus or in the surrounding area?

During this same week we're visiting Loyola Marymount, Chapman, and of course, Mickey Mouse.

I'm curious about this, too. I'm visiting campus on Monday, March 16th.

I think the only advice I can give you about visiting Oxy is to try to understand the area around it. The business area right around campus is nothing special. However, if you go over the Colorado Street bridge you come right into Pasadena and that's a really wonderful town with museums, restaurants, shopping, and theaters. My D has applied this year to all three of these schools...I'll be interested in what you think after you visit!

My visit to Occidental in November was great, but of course I'm very familiar with the area as my aunt works in Eagle Rock and my mom in Glendale. Nearby Pasadena, home of the Rose Bowl, is a really nice area with a lot of shopping.

Don't get too starstruck from the beautiful campus architecture :)

Hi. I'm an international applicant to Oxy for the class of 2013. I visited the school in 2007. I was fortunate enough to sit in an economics class. Although I already knew the subject of the lesson inside out (because I was studying it for my A level syllabus), I was fascinated by the WAY that the class was taught- through a game! It was clear that the prof had spent a lot of time preparing for this class and that showed me the meaning of dedication. That was the single, most important thing I took away from my Oxy visit.

I think that when one visits a college, you have to be able to extract one special quality from the visit through an experience you've had on campus. Hope this helps
