I do not believe I will be able to visit Penn due to the distance. Will my application to Penn be hurt by the fact that I did not visit, and thus did not show demonstrated interest?

I don’t think so (but please verify). I think Penn understands that plenty of people may not be able to visit due to finances, distance, etc. But you can demonstrate interest by going on the undergrad admissions website and going to “request information” to put yourself on the mailing list. And the info you get in the mail will help you in your app to Penn, because it will make you more knowledgeable and subsequently more convincing.

No it won’t negatively affect your application at all - this would put lower income students at a great disadvantage. By requesting information etc. you will have demonstrated sufficient interest. Furthermore, show that you’ve researched the school a lot, and demonstrate that in your Penn supplement.

You can also show interest by going to local information sessions.
