I am visiting Providence and Brown this weekend with some friends from out of the US. Can anyone recommend a GREAT restaurant in Providence?

Ahhhh there's some AWESOME restaurants on Thayer St (which is right where Brown is!). There's this really good pizza place on Thayer St...I think it's called Antonio's? Not completely sure. And in downtown Providence there's so much more restaurants that are also really good--if you're into ethnic foods, you'll like Cuban Revolution (which is a spanish restuarant)

Al Fornos (no reservations though) ; Capital Grille (pricey); Hemenway's (good seafood); Capriccios (pricey)

Yeah, Antonio's is AMAZING!!!! It's pizza by the slice, and even if your only open meal is breakfast...get the white pizza!!! AHHH I'm in love with that place!!

I also go to Paragon a lot with my family...the food is amazing and its not extrememely pricey, I don't think there are reservations either. Both those are on Thayer street.

There really are so many great little places on Thayer Street-a hot dog place, panini place, gyro place, candy store, more than one pizza place, more than one sandwich place

And if you have time for shopping to to Providence Place by the state house and get a pretzel from Auntie Anne's...ahhh so good :]

Antonio's is good, only because it's cheap IMO. The slices are a bit too thin, but for $2.25 it's a steal!

For something that's reasonable and actually good and unique and not a pizza place on Thayer, I have two recommendations.

1) Andinos on Atwells Avenue They're straight up Italian but very good for reasonable price.
2) A bit more unique is Red Stripe located on Angell Street in Wayland Square. This is probably my favorite place for something actually sit down that I can't eat anywhere else in Providence. Prices are reasonable (as little as $9 to about $24 for an entree).

Both are close enough to campus to make a bit of a far walk but an easy drive. Andinos is probably about 2 miles away and Red Stripe is probably a bit less than 1.5 miles away.

What is that red stripe place? I walked by it the other day. And Auntie Ann's is a chain, even have those back home (far away)

There's a good Indian place on Thayer Street, too.

And don't forget Wickendon Street-maybe a 2-3 minute drive from campus, a 15 minute walk. There are lots of restaurants and for breakfast Brickway and something called Blue Elephant (?)-made the best french toast with fresh fruit and nutella-yummm!
